California Hazara Community is a non-profit organization established in Sacramento, California to serve Afghan community in Sacramento. This non-profit organization was established in 2017 by a number of active youth with the support of elders and other segments of society and was officially registered in the relevant departments.
At the beginning, California Hazara community didn’t have a dedicated office or building, and its meetings were held periodically in the founders' homes. The first practical step and decision that was made determined a monthly membership fee, according to which every family that wants to join this organization is obligated to pay $ 20 per month. According to this policy, the persons who become members of this organization will benefit from the services that this organization offers. With the great efforts of the board members, advisory council, youths, and other members of this organization, the number of families that were registered with this organization increased day by day. The support and encouragement of the members of the community led the executive officers and board members to try and work harder to serve their community.
Fortunately, in early 2021, they bought a building for the headquarters of this organization. Now this building includes Masjid Annabi, Katib Educational and Cultural Center, and the main office of CHC. After the purchase of this building, the monthly expenses and payments of this organization increased and it was necessary to increase the $20 monthly membership fee to $35 as well as to invite more people to join this community.
With the efforts and hard work of the executive officers and board members, things went well. As a result of these efforts, today we see that over 250 families are active members of this organization and pay a monthly membership fee. Now, the range of activities for this organization has become wider and wider. In addition to religious, cultural and social events, the authorities are working to start the educational program soon which has not yet been activated due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
Kateb Educational and Cultural Center will host language, and religious classes for children, teenagers, youth and other ages. California Hazara community is determined to serve the people and its community, and is always willing to serve the people volunteer, without any wages or other expectations.
